The Challenge.

Updated: Sep 16, 2019

Swimming 1.5km, biking 40km and a run of 10km; a single triathlon seems challenge enough but not to Sam and Ryan. Deciding on a gruelling seven triathlons in seven days, the twins are intent on pushing themselves to the limit. The aim of this Seven in Seven is to cover distance and the only competition the twins will have is each-other. Starting on 31st of October, the twins’ challenge is sure to be more exhausting than spooky.

In the interest of setting some ground rules for the 7in7 triathlons, Sam is setting out the rules;

"We’re just going to set a few ground rules of what we are doing and why! One thing to start off, we are not athletes or trying to set any records. We are just two ordinary guys who want to push our own and each other’s limits!

So let’s get started with the rules!

The Swim

- We will be completing the swim in a pool at Nuffield Health, Letchworth. We've worked out we need to complete 75 consecutive lengths each day.

- Each of us has to complete all 75 laborious lengths before we can move on to the bike section of our daily triathlons.

- There will be a ten minute transition period between the swim and the bike leg; just enough time for us to dry off and strap our shoes on.

- On the 2nd, 3rd and 6th day individuals can donate and have a chance to swim alongside us!

- Any type of swim stroke is acceptable as long as we keep moving.

The Bike

- The full 40km bike will be completed on site at Nuffield Health, Letchworth.

- We will complete it indoors on a watt bike and Turbo Trainer. (This is due to the fact that we are not road cyclists and do not want be put in harms way - especially on the last day when we'll feel less than alive).

- Both of us must complete the full distance before moving on to the final leg.

- There will be a five minute transition between the bike and the run; just enough time to catch our breath and have a drink.

- Just like the swim if you want to join in you can donate and bike alongside us on the 2nd/3rd and 6th day (spin bikes will be made available for those wishing to join the peleton).

The Run

- The run will be the only leg of the triathlons completed outdoors; 10km in the Letchworth area.

- There are few rules surrounding the run, only one in fact; each twin must complete the whole distance!

- Yet again, the 2nd, 3rd and 6th days are available for those looking to join us!

Now that the rules are set out, we look forward to either hearing from you, seeing you, or having you lend us some energy so that we can power through!

Thank you all!

Keep it over 9000 guys,

Sam and Ryan."

This blog will follow Sam and Ryan throughout their training with weekly updates, including workouts, nutrition and so much more. From their very first dip in the pool up until their last wearying run, this blog will follow it all and beyond.

The Seven in Seven triathlon, surprisingly, is not just for fun. Sam and Ryan will be pushing themselves through this challenge as a fundraiser for a charity close to their hearts; Mind. They aim to raise £1500 and you can help them achieve that goal by donating here.
