Week 2: Setting the Pace

With one week of training already completed, Sam showed no signs of letting up as he moved swiftly into a second week. Ryan, on the other hand, is yet to begin.

Once again, Sam takes us through his busy week of training:

"So as I was basically a professional swimmer last week I cleverly thought I’d try the bike and run split this week. Was a little trickier than imagined. Who would have thought it but damn it was tough!

Monday (Day 08):

10km on the stationary bike today in 26.32mins. Time-wise that's....okay, but for my first attempt on the bike not too bad I feel! Quickly followed up by a 2.2mile run which took me 19.09mins. It was hands down the hardest run I have ever had to complete in my life! Safe to say it was an experience of sorts! Not looking forward to tomorrow!

Tuesday (Day 9):

Today I was back in the pool with 600m in 17mins. Surprised even myself with that time, think Ryan was lurking around a corner watching too. Getting quicker at prepping for the swim too, as you can see on the left! Swim was quickly followed by a (tuesday tradition) 45min Spin class. Yet again, this week, one of THE hardest classes I have ever had to teach. My legs were not playing ball.

Wednesday (Day 10):

Completed a 10km bike that lasted a lovely 26.47mins followed by an even lovelier 3.65km run at 31.32mims. This time round the split was so much easier, hence I ran further! Bike felt a bit better with less fatigue, but my legs were heavy the first mile of the run.

Thursday (Day 11):

Another 11.74km stint on the bike at 30mins. I changed up the way I did it today; doing 2min intervals of increasing resistance and hitting a set mph and then every 8mins dropped back just to build up again. Definitely more enjoyable with some structure to the (stationary) ride! Also ran another 1.95km at 16.43mins; legs were severely fatigued and I didn't get quite as far as hoped!

Friday (Day 12):

Commitments outside of the gym today meant I couldn't train but I was definitely daydreaming about that bike!

Saturday (Day 13):

Managed to run 1.95m in 15.58mins so I like to think I'm improving incredibly!

Sunday (Day 14):

Went to play football today, first time in over a year! I was very excited and anxious to play but my hamstring disagreed with the plan immediately! Lasted an energetic 20 mins."

Sam's commitment is starting to show results but will he tire himself out before the big event? If you would like to donate to the fundraiser you can do so here or if you would like to ask Ryan what he's playing at you can find both the twins at @saiyans_in_training on instagram.
